Spinning
Tonight was Scary Spinning and, boy was it scary. She had us do intervals of double-time, then break-aways, then sprints in a variety of all positions. I don't even really know what the difference really is between all of the above except that she just kept wanting us to go faster. And then she would contradict herself by saying, "okay, your pace" as a recovery ("your pace" presumably being an easier cadence to recover with), but then she would right away say, "comeon, comeon!" to try and get us to go faster -- GAH! Oh, and then there were the intervals of two minutes each of isolating the muscle and moving bounce-free very slowly at high resistance, in third (squat) position. If you've never done this, it is very hard for even a few measley seconds (you basically have to support your entire suspended weight, and muscle through and rotate your legs without using any forward momentum at all). I hated her, I really did. There were a few times during the class when I looked up at her with pure loathing. Oh, and one other thing, what is the point of saying that we were now going to be on a "flat road" but then say that we should be on "moderate-heavy" resistance??? Moderate-heavy to me means HILL. Whatever. But anyway, I sure did feel great once the class was done.

Week 27
Running
I set out for a run yesterday afternoon with Lola, it was SUCH a gorgeous day. However, once we got to the park, it kind of crept up on me that it was much warmer than I had thought (it had been so cool in the morning) and being that it was right around the hottest part of the day, I didn't feel all that comfortable running Lola much (plus, I hadn't brought water for her). So I compromised and did a bit of a trail run/hike and didn't worry too much about how much I was running. Ran where I could and walked the very steep, rocky, rutted parts. I almost don't even really want to count it. It was just a little jaunt of about 40 minutes.
Tonight, I just ran two miles on the treadmill. It was funny, I was watching the Olympics while I was running and I literally had to concentrate on my feet very hard so that I didn't lift off and try to leap in sync with the women hurdle runners. Anyway, boring run, but at least I did something.
