I just couldn't work out yesterday. I was so tired, I could barely function by the end of the day. I was busy at work and so I didn't have a chance to run out to the gym at lunch either, so yesterday was a complete wash.

However, I did get out to run today...

Running:

It was a beautiful day here in NYC, so I went into Manhattan and to Central Park. I did some amount of walking around on some of the footpaths, meandering my way up to the Reservoir where I repeated the routine from class once again (intervals of five minutes running). I don't know, but it doesn't seem to be getting any easier, I don't know how I'm going to be able to bump up my running interval at Tuesday's class.

Spinning Class tonight -- and it was hard! At least for me. Seems like she had us either sprinting or climbing (or some combination of both) for the entire class with no recoveries at all. And it didn't help that my legs were still a little sore from running two days in a row. A couple of beers with Ellen & Ken made it all worthwhile afterwards however.

Two workouts in one day. Woo!

Running:

Since I was at work early this morning, I took the opportunity to take an earlier train home so that I could take Lola into Forest Park for some exercise. Originally I was going to go up to Central Park after work, but my stomach was giving me a little trouble, so I wanted to go home first and reassess. And I also decided that it would be good to get Lola out for a bit too.

Brisk, 10-15 minute walk into Forest Park. I then decided to do the same intervals we were doing for class last night. Started the first 5 minute interval (on a sharp hill!), however, about two minutes into it we ran into a man with a pug named Alex. Well, we don't see too many pugs out here, so of course we had to stop and play with Alex for a few minutes. He was so cute! So after that I restarted my five minutes from the beginning (to get the full effect). That went okay. Then the next interval had us winding up a steep and long hill on the bridle path about two minutes into it. I'm sorry, but I am so not ready for that. I finally gave in and had to walk it, but I restarted a new interval after that hill that I was able to complete. I continued on and finally on our last interval I had to trudge up yet another hill, but I stuck with it (knowing it was our last) literally dragging Lola who had completely lagged behind. Finally made the complete interval. Barely, but we (or, well, I) did it, so I was proud of myself. I wanted to collapse then, but after a little bit of recovery I decided that we had time to do a little bit of hiking through one of trails through the woods, which is usually pretty enjoyable. Lola appreciated being let off her leash here so she could bound ahead and frolic (uh, where was that energy when I was dragging her up the damn hill a few minutes ago???). Finally, a brisk walk home from Forest Park completed our little workout. I now have to run (hopefully) two more times before class next week.

Running:

Running class tonight. This time we did intervals of 5 minutes running/2 minutes walking. It was hard (I knew it was going to be hard) but I did it and without "cheating" and walking at any time when we were supposed to be running. Oh and I am loving Daylight Savings. What a difference an hour makes. Because it was so light out, we were able to go up and use the bridle path around the Reservoir. It was very pleasant.

Oh yeah, I also put in about 2.5-3 miles walking (in addition to running class).
