Running:

20 minutes treadmill run. Ran the entire 20 minutes without walking - woo! Sped up the pace too for the last 2 minutes. Every week I try to edge up my treadmill speed, even if it's just by .1. I did that tonight for the entire run, but then edged up from that .5 more for the last 2 minutes. I'm hoping this might translate somehow to the running I do outside too. Couldn't hurt. Oh and I love my new shoes!

Spinning:

Tonight's class was so easy compared to Tuesday's insanity. Still there were a few minutes at the end of the class that got a little intense with a series of hard sprints with resistance (with short recovery in between). Oh, and can I say the spinning room was hot? Dear God.

Running:

The weather was rather unstable today and was somewhat stormy when I got home, so I figured that I would have a treadmill run. I needed to run out to an ATM first though as I realized that I didn't have any money for Lola's dog walker for tomorrow. So I put on my running stuff, so I would at least be ready and at the last minute I grabbed Lola to go with me and out we went. Well, once we got outside, I realized that the storm had blown through and so, although it still seemed pretty dicey, I didn't think it was going to storm again right away, I decided to go to the Park after all. I normally wouldn't have taken Lola tonight since the humidity was around 100% (or as close to it as it can be without raining) and it was pretty warm, but she was already with me so, oh well.

I decided to do the bridle path trails this time. We ran in on the road, along the route I have been doing lately in Forest Park, but then veered off onto a bridle path trail with the intention of doing the outside loop. It was nice, because of the storm, there were really very few people on the trails, and the people that were there, were for the most part runners. So I was able to let Lola off the leash and was able to keep her off. I just took it at a nice, easy pace and walked when I needed to and tried not to worry about the run too much. I was able to tackle this huge hill early on in the run that always kicks my butt. It is one big hill that goes up in three stages and keeps getting steeper with each stage. I ran each section of it, took a rest where it slightly levels off, before setting off on the next section. I made it to the top of the last section running. Barely. I should try and do this every week. There was a guy doing hill repeats on it. I was impressed. Maybe I'll be there some day. I tried to relax and enjoy the rest of the loop around. The loop ended with another longish hill (not nearly as bad as the first however) before exiting back on the Park Drive. I managed to struggle up this last hill running as well, so I was pretty happy with my effort. We then finished up with the short run on the park road out of the park. All in all it was a combined running and walking adventure of about 45 minutes. Plus another 15 or 20 minutes walking to and from the Park. One day I would like to be able to run that bridle path loop without walking at all. I'll have to work on that. It can be a goal. So an uncomfortably humid night, but I feel pretty good right now. Oh and Lola had a blast. She should be tired now for awhile. I know I am.

Week 15

Spinning

Oh. My. God. Tonight was Mean Spinning Instructor and damn was that class ever hard! I had forgotten how hard her class is. I was dizzy and seeing stars by about 15 minutes in. Damn. She just has you going and going and going, adding resistance, double-time, double-time + resistance and switching positions, with no. recovery. at. all. You basically could have poured me out of that spinning room by the time we were done. I need to take her class more often. I wonder where else and when else she teaches? Damn.
