Running:

30 minutes running on the treadmill. I did it in 3 running intervals of 10 minutes, with an interval of 1 minute fast walking in between each (as well as 1 minute walking to warm up and 1 minute walking to cool down). Calves are now pretty achy, but that one very sore spot on my shin seems okay for the moment. I wonder if a new or different pair of shoes would take care of my achy calves, or if this is just my legs adjusting to running again. I do have a relatively new pair of shoes in my closet that I can try. I bought them last Summer, but they ended up being a little bit too small. Maybe they'll work if I buy a pair of tissue-thin socks or something.

Week 14

Running:

It was supposed to be a spinning day, but it turned out to be so nice today. The stifling humidity had finally broken and there weren't any thunderstorms in the area either. Plus, I had taken a number of days off from running to nurse my very sore shin (was worried that was going to turn into a real injury), so I felt tonight was a good one for running. I took Lola this time and went into Forest Park for my usual course up and down the rolling hills of the Park Drive. I extended it a bit farther by crossing Woodhaven Blvd. and running to the band shell (which isn't really all the far in on that side). All-in-all, a decent run I guess. Total run time was around 30 minutes. I had about 20+ additional minutes of walking too. Shin feels okay now, but I think I'll ice it just to be sure.
